Why I Started Rescue Tails
I originally started Rescue Tails for one very simple reason. I needed an outlet.
Rescue can be incredible, rewarding, and life changing, but it can also be exhausting. Some days you carry the wins around with you. Other days you carry the heartbreak. And on the bad days, honestly, you just need somewhere to have a good rant.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised there is so much more I want to share.
Rescue is not just one thing. It is not just sad stories, although there are plenty. It is also funny moments, unexpected joy, little victories that make you cry, and stories that stick with you for life. It is the moments you could not make up, the behind the scenes reality, and the bits that people do not always see.
So this blog is my place to write about all of it. The funny, the heartbreaking, and everything in between.
I am a trustee of an animal charity, but this blog is written in my individual capacity. It is personal, honest, and hopefully a little bit comforting for anyone who loves animals and cares about what happens to them.
Most of all, I am hoping that by sharing stories and reflections from this world, more people might feel inspired to get involved. That could be adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, campaigning, or simply learning more about what rescue really looks like.
If you have found your way here, thank you for being here. My first proper post is coming soon, and I promise it will not all be doom and gloom.
There will be hope, heartbreak, and the work in between.
